A Hidden Gem! Not to miss! "Lunner" ( BTW. lunch/Dinner), Ordered their "Special Original Teriyaki Beef Philly Cheese Steak Sub..." It was Fantastic! Substituted their top of the line "Onion Rings!" instead of the usual offerings...Great Choice! Additionally, the Chicken Teriyaki "Hawaiian-Asian" Style combo plate, very good. Large portions, good mac salad, 2 scoops rice. Great Service! Vintage setting where "Da Locals" eat! Bar seating available serving generous drinks and is available for Cafe dining. Got to go there!

Love this place! The menu is huge and so many different choices. I had the pizza one night and burger the next night. The service is friendly and the chef even came out to check on us. Very homey place.

We got seated and served immediately, waitress gave wonderful suggestions when we were ordering. Drinks were very tasty. The food arrived warm and tasted delicious. My husband was pleased with his seafood platter and I had the Hawaiian stroganoff. If we visited the big island again would definitely come back and we recommend for others visiting. It is a friendly diner, staff is great and welcoming. We have visited a few places and so far this is our favorite. Very large plates for the prices. Mahalo.

4 of us had a great meal here. Very good food, very friendly and prompt service. Casual comfortable atmosphere. I highly recommend this place. I have only one minor criticism that won't affect 99% of patrons. I hesitate to put it here but elsewhere on the internet they list accessible restrooms. And as a person in a wheelchair I can verify that it's largely true. The doorway is of ample width and the room is large enough. The only issue was the lack of a grab bar at the side of the toilet. Other than that I commend Black Rock for making their business accessible.

The tour book I bought (and read for your information) stated that the Black Rock Cafe serves "embarrassingly cheap beer." Well, it was inexpensive, but neither the server or yours truly was remotely embarrassed! My hot veggie sub was ono (that's a word the people around here use to describe something that exceeds expectations). Patty enjoyed her fish and chips. The macaroni salad was made in the style of Hawaii....marvelous! Fries were above average (B).

Thanks you!!! One for being here. Another is for the fantastic food. The assortment of different dishes you have to offer. Also there is a full bar next door. Where you can get a drink and bring it to your table. Or if you are like me and order a glass of Merlot they will bring it to your table. My son ordered the fries and chicken , which came out first when the food was being served. Beautiful touch because the little ones like there food first. The group also ordered the beef teriyaki. Mac salad and rice. My aunt and wife split and Order of seafood pasta. With garlic bread. I was surely surprised to see liver and onions on menu. Two large steaks medium rare with onions , bacon and a scoop of rice. Came with a green salad with your choice of dressing. We also ended up ordering 1/2 lbs of extra fries. Which were so crispy and tender on the inside. Service was spot on. No complaints. Definitely coming back here to try breakfast? Worthy of your business

Weekends are near impossible to get someone on the phone. Especially if it's for breakfast. Once I did and placed an order - the food satisfied. We got simple stuff: French toast, 2 egg breakfast plate, and chili omelette. We haven't had the best luck with dinners there but breakfast was satisfac

I read. A few bad reviews and decided to check this place out myself. The atmosphere was really great, it seemed very family oriented. It could use a modern touch though. I ate the Eggs Benedict w/hash brown. It was really good but a tad on the salty side, I think it was my choice in the ham. I would recommend it.
